Spring Cleaning Guide 2024
Spring means, warmer temperatures, open windows, blooming flowers, and a fresh start. At least to us it means a fresh start. Organizing, decluttering, deep cleaning, and cleaning those things that aren’t included in the regular cleaning routine like the carpet or the fridge are some of the things we try to tackle as spring rolls around.
There’s a lot of pressure to have a perfectly clean house, and while we do love a clean house, we also love balance. So, we’ve come up with some spring-cleaning tips and tricks to balance life with cleaning. We’ll be trickling these ideas out week by week as spring goes on. If you can achieve the tasks, that’s great! However, do not put pressure on yourself to complete all the tasks to perfection or complete them at all. This is just a hopefully helpful guide to a cleaner home and a clear mind.
DECLUTTER. We are going to declutter our homes. Now, depending on the size of your house, who you live with, and what life activities you have going on, you might not complete this in one week. The goal is to declutter something, whether that’s just one drawer in your dresser, an entire room, or the whole house. Decluttering makes it easier to clean the surfaces that aren’t currently clear but might be after some decluttering and reorganizing.
A big thing we are going to declutter are closets. We use closets to store away all kinds of things. Kitchen items, jackets, cleaning supplies, blankets, etc. If you can declutter all of your closets or even part of your closet, that’s awesome! We like to create a donation pile and a sell pile. A lot of our houseware items can be sold on Facebook Marketplace (safely, of course). But sometimes that adds another task to the list. I like to load up the trunk of my car and take those donations to Good Will straight away. That way they don’t sit there for years in trash bags in my basement.
Before you use the space you decluttered, grab a microfiber and your favorite all-purpose cleaner and clean the cleared surfaces. We don’t want dust to build up because quite frankly, it’s just not good for us.
Before we send you off to declutter, we want you to know that you don’t have to be perfect at it. We all hold onto things that have sentimental value. There is no pressure to part with items you’re not ready to part with. We’re thinking more along the lines of items we haven’t used in the last year or clothes that we haven’t worn in the last two years.
Good luck on your first task! We will be decluttering this week as well! Follow our TikTok while we go through our spring-cleaning checklist!
Until next week,
